July Favorites: 2014!

July has gone by so fast and I'm not to sure I'm ready for August. Though, during this month I've so many favorites in beauty, hair, and entertainment. Down below, I will go through my favorites and give a little detail on them and I will also link the products.

1. Beauty

So I'm not one to use beauty products like mascara or eyeliner but I do use skin products, so I guess I can fit this in this category. My skin gets incredibly dry in the summer time, so my doctor recommended that I use Cetaphil. So I tried it out and realized that it really worked. Now, I'm not sure if this is just for me or not, but I find it works so much better when your face is damp. I also recommend the Cetaphil soap it works absolute wonders for my skin. I have not tried the body lotion, but when I get back to school, I will purchase it and let you know how it works.

This is one thing that I hate to admit but it's true, I perspire and not a lot, but whenever I go out. So, I did some research to try and find the best deodorant to help with this problem. So I found, Secret deodorant and it works like magic. Though it's a little pricey but I promise it works wonders. You can find this deodorant in drug stores and Walmart, Target.

Lastly, is hair. Now, I'm not 100% if this counts as beauty, but I included it anyway. So, it's really hot around my house and I decided to not put any heat on my hair this summer at all, except for my bangs, so I've stuck with doing a milkmaid braid in my hair and I absolutely love it, I had some help from my mom though. But it's my go to hairstyle for if I need to go out or just lounge around the house. Here is a link on how to achieve this look: Milkmaid Braid Tutorial (though my hair is not this long, it's very close to how my hair looks now)

2. Music

This whole month, I've been loving a lot of new music. Neon Hitch has been my favorite artist this month. I loved her voice on the first couple songs I heard last year and this year I got back into her again. She now has a new song and video coming out called Yard Sale, so please check the song out, the video should be out in August!

When I first heard Magic! I fell in love with their reggae sound and was captured by 'Rude'. I heard their album 'Don't Kill The Magic' all throughout this month and my favorite songs are No Evil, Stupid Me, Don't Kill The Magic, and How Do You Want To Be Remembered.

My favorite songs this month have been Take On Me by A-Ha, Livin' On A Prayer by Bon Jovi, and Try by Colbie Caillat. I've loved Take On Me for as long as I can remember, but I just recently saw the full video and I fell in love completely, it's so amazing and cool and I just watch it over and over and smile because it just makes me so happy. Livin' On A Prayer, has also been a favorite of mine for a while but hearing it again just made it a complete favorite because it's just great and I love to listen to it whenever I'm about to go out because it just makes me feel great and energized. This last song by Colbie Caillat was actually introduced to me by my mom, yesterday. I had to add this to my favorites because it's such a beautiful song and video and I haven't stopped listening to it. Here's a link to this gorgeous video: Try by Colbie Caillat.

I've also been listening to some new and upcoming artists. I've been loving Neon Jungle and their new album 'Welcome To The Jungle'. Now, I'm not sure if the album is released in the US yet, but I think it's released in the UK, but nonetheless you can find it on YouTube for no cost. My favorite songs are Trouble, So Alive, Louder, Braveheart, and Bad Man. I've also been listening to Lola Blanc. She is a writer as well as a musician and she's written for artists like Britney Spears. I've been loving her music and her loud outfits and videos. My favorite songs from her are Bad Tattoo, Shangri-La, and Shut The Damn Door.

3. Movies

If you didn't know, I have a love for movies made in the 80's. So at the beginning of this month, I thought one movie I haven't seen was St. Elmo's Fire. So I got the movie and absolutely loved it. The movie follows six sort of young-adults out of college and the movie goes explains how each of the characters how kind of adapted to being out of college. It's such a great movie and I definitely rate it a 10.

The next movie I saw was Vampire Academy. I thought at first, 'oh this movie doesn't look too good, it just looks okay and I'm not going to like this.' I tried reading the book, but I got bored, so I was thinking this is going to be boring too. But it was the complete opposite, the movie was great and really funny. I absolutely loved it and I definitely recommend it. I rate this movie a 10 honestly.

4. TV Shows

This whole month I've been watching a lot of new TV Shows. I'm going to start off with Skins. Now Skins was a British show but I found it online and began watching it at the beginning of this month. This show is absolutely hilarious but pretty inappropriate for kids 12 and under. This show is great and honestly watching this show has made me think more, it teaches you something I think for each season. It's one of those shows that you don't expect to learn anything from but you do. At the moment, I am on the last season and so far it's really good.

Finding Carter captured my attention just by seeing the commercial and learning the concept of the show. The show follows this girl who's name is Carter and one night she gets taken in to this police station and tell her her actually mother is not her mother and that she was kidnapped. So she has to deal with this new family and new environment. I really love this show and I definitely recommend it. (Also the girl who plays Carter Stevens is Kathryn Prescott and she was on Skins, if you didn't know)

So, Sex and the City has always been a favorite of my mom's and at the end of last month I started watching it and I instantly fell in love with the show and the characters. I've been watching this show religiously and it was just so amazing and fantastic. You have no idea how many times I've gotten inspiration from the things Carrie wears. It's honestly my favorite show and I can't stop watching it.

I've been watching Teen Wolf since it first came on and it's been a favorite of mine since. It recently just came on for it's fourth season and I thought the first episode was a little rocky and I was scared if this season was going to be good since they killed off Allison but it picked up the second episode and has stayed really amazing for the rest of the episodes. I wasn't a huge fan of Malia when she became part of the new cast but now she's actually really growing on me and I really like her, she's funny and witty. (just like her father). Now, I want to be the first to say this, because if it actually happens you heard it here from the start, but I think Peter's the benefactor.

5. Books

Now I honestly didn't think I'd be reading any books this summer, but I picked up on a couple of books, that I thought I'd share, but their not like literature they are fashion books.

I picked up on Living In Style by Rachel Zoe and I honestly love this book so much. It's all about like fashion, interior design, how to information, and some stuff about her as well. It's a great book overall. Here is a link to the book: Living In Style by Rachel Zoe

The second and last book is Paris Street Style: A Guide to Effortless Chic by Isabelle Thomas and Frederique Veysset. I first heard about this book from TheBeautyCrush or Sammi on YouTube and I thought why not check it out. So I purchased the book and I started reading it and I fell in love with this book. I instantly wanted to dress very Perisian. I recommend this book so much. Here's a link to the book: Paris Street Style.

Thank you so much for checking out my July favorites! I hope you had a good month and now on to the August!

Celebrity Style of the Week

Kylie Jenner

My Celebrity Style of the Week goes to the beautiful Kylie Jenner! Kylie is the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner Clan (besides North, Mason, and Penelope). Kylie's style is a mixture of edgy with a hint of bohemian. I've been following her style for months now and I've gotten so much inspiration from her. Down below are some of her essentials and how she wears them! Enjoy!

Flannels are a huge staple for Kylie's wardrobe. She loves them oversized and wears them around her waist and on her arms. You can get many that are similar to her's at your local thrift store.

Kylie loves her Boots, whether they're platform, ankle, or thigh high she loves them.

When Kylie wears jeans, most of the time she usually sticks to her Ripped Boyfriend Jeans. She pairs them with tee shirts, coats, boots, heels, etc.

Sunglasses are a bold accessory for Kylie and a huge essential. She's always sporting different kinds and shapes of glasses and they're very chic!

Last, Kylie loves Stripes. She's been wearing stripes on tee shirts, dresses, pants, etc.

Kelly Kapowski (played by Tiffany Amber Thiessen) from Saved By The Bell, has one of my favorite styles on a TV show in history. Though, this is completely not my generation, I remember waking up at 7:00 in the morning and I was so intrigued by the show (plus I had a crush on Zack, not going to lie) and I then I saw Kelly and her outfits and I was like 'oh my gosh this girl can dress'. Kelly was the most popular girl at Bayside High and Zack Morris' love interest during the series. She was head cheerleader, captain of the swim, volleyball, and softball teams. Kelly's character is very sweet and genuine.

Kelly's outfits tended to be more form-fitting and sultry compared to her friends. She was often seen wearing floral, denim, and pastels (as well as very bold colors). Also being the most athletic girl in the group, she loved wearing biker shorts and accessorizing with colorful scrunchies and her big, voluminous hair. See down below for some inspired outfits.

Hello! I hope you guys enjoyed this post and love Kelly and her style just as much as I do. I'm so sorry I didn't post anything yesterday, my friend just got out of the hospital and I spent the day visiting her, but I'm back today to post so don't worry!

How To Style: Turbans

Image 1 of ASOS Cross Over Turban HatImage 1 of River Island Bond Street Turban

Turbans are my favorite accessory at the moment(especially the one Carrie was sporting in SATC2). Though I've had so much trouble finding one, I'm still looking. But after seeing so many celebrities wear it in different ways and during different events, I thought why not create some inspired sets. See down below for my take. Enjoy!
Turban 1
This look is for the girl who just wants to hang out or have coffee with her friends and just relax. I added a lot of blacks, whites, and grays because I really liked the way the blue satchel broke everything up.

Turban 2

This final look is for a night out to get drinks or hang out with friends. I was a little inspired by Jesy Nelson, because she wore something sort of similar to this and I took a huge amount of inspiration from her past looks out. Again, I did a monochrome outfit and I paired it with this killer kimono and amazing turban.

Thank you so much for reading this post! I hope you enjoyed and maybe got some inspiration!

Style: Bohemian

Bohemian

The Bohemian Style has been around for decades and is still very relevant to this day. The Bohemian Style comes for the late 1960's (during the Hippie Movement) and into the 1970's and has made it's comeback in the 2000's and 2010's. When I think of this boho chic, I think about California, the music, and these four beautiful ladies down below.

Rachel Zoe

Rachel Zoe is my boho style guru. The way she pairs certain items together makes this style so modern and fun. Her hair is a beautiful honey gold and her face is gorgeous. (Have you see her eyes?) Even as a mom she still dresses her best and looks amazing.

Alessandra Ambrosio

Photo Source                                        Photo Source                                           Photo Source

Alessandra Ambrosio is not only a beautiful top model but has an amazing sense of style. She has an amazing figure and her clothes always adorn her petite physique. Though she is a mama now, her look still works even with her son and daughter.

Nicole Richie

Last, but not least is Nicole Richie. I know you're thinking 'isn't that the ditzy blonde from The Simple Life with Paris Hilton?' Well yes, that is her, but she's matured (sort of) as well as her fashion. Nicole uses some of the main essentials for boho style, such as maxi dresses, caftans, sandals, head accessories, and bold accessories.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed and maybe this gave you some inspiration!

Gift Guides

Gift Guides

Do you ever have that one friend in particular that's so unique you have no idea what to buy for her? Well I do and I'm sure you do too. So down below are gifts for those certain kind of people. Enjoy!

The Girly Girl: I have a girly friend that's always been a struggle to shop for. So I've come up with some cute little products that she can use daily. I have this bath collection that's full of shampoo, body products, and a loofah and some amazing smelling body lotion, both from Bath & Body Works. I then added this really cute eye mask inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's and a beautiful poster of Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

The Rocker Chick:  This is one of the easiest for me because I have a couple friends who love rock music and all that stuff. So I added this Misfits tank top, but you can use any band tee shirt or tank top. I added this great Green Day American Idiot Vinyl and a Pierce The Veil bracelet. Last but not least, if you just have absolutely no idea what to get them, get them a nice $50 (or less) gift card to Hot Topic.

The Geeky Girl: I honestly had no problem with creating a gift set for this kind of person. The easiest thing to do for this person is find out their favorite movie, TV show, or comic book and it should be pretty easygoing once you figure that out. Up above though, I have this Supernatural tank top that has Sam and Dean and right beside it is a tank top that has Daryl Dixon from the Walking Dead. Below it, I have a Batman clutch and right beside it I have a Doctor Who phone case, all courtesy of Hot Topic.

The Bookworm:  I know what you're thinking 'this is the easiest person to shop for', but do you think they ever get tired of getting books? So I did add a couple of books (all from Barnes&Noble), but I added a gift card (to Barnes&Noble) just in case they wanted something else from there besides books, like a movie or CD. Last but not least, is a book light. My mom reads all the time and has said her book light has come in handy so much. So when you're friend's reading in the dark, they have some light.

Alright thanks so much reading! I hope you guys found this guide super helpful and also if you're shopping for a guy, you can use these exact things (maybe not the bath set and loofah though)! Till later.

Fashion of the Decade: 1950's

1950's

Continuing with The 1950's today, why not talk about the fashion? I believe the fashion can be interpreted in two ways. There's the elegant, glamorous side with pearls, collars, flared skirts, cinched in waists, and ballet flats. Then there's the not so glamorous side which includes leather jackets, high-waisted jeans, motorcycle boots or Mary-Janes. Personally, I love both styles and down below are my interpretations.

The 1950's style is still happening to this date by a selected hand of celebrities. Both styles are being worn very modernized and very chic I might add. Up above on the left I inserted a picture of the beautiful Dita Von Teese in a bright circle skirt with a plain white tee tucked in and some ballet flats to match. On the left, one of my favorite bloggers ReeRee from rockalily.com, is rocking some great disco pants with a cute sweater and headscarf. Anyone can modernize this look it just takes a couple, minor changes nothing big.

Alright well that's it for today! I will be back tomorrow though, I hope you enjoyed!

Hair of the Decade: 1950's

1950's

The 1950's in my opinion had the best hair. Every hairstyle had structure, volume, and classiness. Some of the more popular hairstyles were the bouffant, victory rolls (as shown above), and finely curled bangs. The modern day woman would have short to medium-length hair and would take inspiration from movie stars such as Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall (First photo), and many more. Down below I've selected four videos (courtesy of Cherry Dollface) that will show you how to recreate these iconic looks. Enjoy!

The 1950's hairstyles are still modernized to this day by many celebrities including the beautiful Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera as shown up above. Obviously these hairstyles are not worn with 50's pieces but are still worn during red carpet events.

I hope you enjoyed this post! More coming to you later!
