Beauty of the Decade: The 1950's

1950's

To say I love the 1950's makeup and hair is a complete understatement. This era was full of bold brows, bold lips, and subtle eye makeup and blush. I believe it is one of the easiest looks to modernize and many celebrities do it well. This look became a very popular trend among movie stars such Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and many, many more. Down below I will insert a couple tutorials on how to achieve these looks.

Like I mentioned above, the 1950's look has been modernized by many beautiful celebrities to this day. Up above, I selected the beautiful Dita Von Teese and Lana Del Rey. They both have remade this look into something completely beautiful and have both added this vintage ethic to their work. Though this two women have different jobs, they still have time to look like vintage movie stars.

Alright thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post!

Top 7 Beauty Gurus (My Favorites)

Top 7 Beauty Gurus

One of my main sources for fashion inspiration comes from so many beauty gurus on YouTube. They all have a unique and different style that inspires me. Over the past 4 years, I've found so many great beauty gurus, so I thought I'd share them with you. Enjoy! (Also these are not in order from favorite to least favorite and these are just my opinions)

1. The beautiful lady up above is known as Kandee Johnson. Kandee was the first beauty guru I ever watched and I was so intrigued by the things she could do with makeup. I remember watching her makeup tutorials and costume makeup tutorials for hours and I just thought wow, she's incredible. She has one of the sweetest personalities and she's very spunky and bright and you'll love her I promise.

2.  How do I begin to describe PiinkSparkles aka Samantha? Samantha is very bubbly and always has a positive outlook on life. I became hooked when I saw her do so many haul videos and I was like 'yeah I like this girl, she loves shopping' and I love hearing her describe certain things she bought and her monthly favorite's videos are so amazing and really funny. I advise you to check her out.

3.  I can honestly say, every time I watch a video from Meghan, I laugh every time about something she says. Meghan or MissMeghanMakeup is such an amazing and funny person, her positivity inspires many people, including myself. She has the most amazing taste in music and fashion. When I first saw her I immediately thought, 'wow, she looks and sounds like Donna from That 70's Show' and I was instantly drawn in, please check her out, you won't regret it.

4.  BeautyBaby44 or Lindsey has one of the cutest styles on YouTube and almost recently she cut her hair and it looked amazing. I stumbled across Lindsey when I was looking at OOTW (or Outfit of The Week) videos and I instantly fell in love with her style and then I went through her channel and found some really great videos and I thought they were amazing and she seemed like such a nice, funny person. I hope you stop by her channel.

(Fun Fact: Lindsey and Meghan are sisters, if you didn't know)

5.   If you're having a really bad day and need some cheering up, I would definitely suggest you watch MissGlamorazzi or Ingrid. I found Ingrid's videos when I was having a very awful day and I turned on one of her monthly favorites video's and she lifted my spirits like crazy. She has this sweet personality that watching her videos, you instantly become happy and you just start to smile.

6.  If you love British people and British things just as much as I do, then I promise you'll love Sammi or The Beauty Crush. Sammi has always been a favorite of mine and just recently many other people are starting to notice her and her videos. She has this sweet and bubbly personality and then she has these great, wicked tattoos that I'm in complete awe over. She's always happy and her videos are really amazing and she has one of the greatest styles on YouTube (I know I've said that about a lot of these girls). I recommend you check her out and get to know Sammi.

7.  Last but certainly not least, is the beautiful Michelle Phan. I've known about Michelle for years and I can honestly say I take the most inspiration from her, because the way she carries herself is very professional but she keeps it fun and entertaining and I love that about her. If you didn't know, Michelle has her own cosmetic line called em, you can check it out here.

Alright, well I hope you enjoyed this post, remember to comment and tell me who you're favorite beauty gurus are.

Gym Fashion

If you're anything like me, you have a whole bunch of workout pieces that you're not to sure how to pair together and then eventually you just get frustrated because nothing fits or matches. (I hope I'm not the only one like this). So for this post, I created three outfits using the most common workout pieces that everyone has in their closets or drawers. Keep reading for more info.

Sports Bra
Sports Bra
Sports Bras are very common in the workout department for attire, I don't know any girl who doesn't have one (It's ok if you don't). I think the sports bra is a piece that should be dressed down since it shows the most of your upper body.

So, for this look I paired this really cute bright blue sports bra and added some yoga pants with a flare leg. I also kept the tennis shoes really simple and stuck with the old black and white NIKE. Whenever I workout, I tend to get very hot from my hair being on my neck, so what cute way to pull your hair back then with some cute hair ties. Lastly, music is the thing that keeps me going when working out, so I added some simple black headphones and for your water needs, a really cute water bottle.

Bold Running Shoes
Bold Shoes
I think this look has got to be my favorite. I love seeing a monochrome outfit and then bold shoes or accessories. So for this outfit I kept it real simple up top.

I have this sweater from Victoria's Secret with the PINK emblem in bold white and I paired it with some simple black yoga leggings. I finished the look off with some bright purple NIKE running shoes, a matching water bottle, and some black ear buds for you tunes.

Yoga Shorts
Yoga Shorts

I may have lied a bit, this look may be my favorite look after all. When it comes to yoga shorts, I always think the tighter they are, the looser the top should be.

Here, I have this blue ombre muscle tank from Victoria's Secret and you can add whatever underneath it, whether it's a bandeau, like the one I have above or if it's a sports bra or just a bra in general. I finished the look off with black NIKE shoes with the grey swoosh, a water bottle that sort of matches to the muscle tank, and some white headphones for your music.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Remember to comment and try these looks out for yourself!

TV Fashion: Faking It

Faking It is the newest hit on MTV and has won its way into my heart. The show is absolutely hilarious and has amazing characters that people can relate to. The show Faking It, is about two best friends Karma Ashcroft and Amy Raudenfeld who are mistaken as lesbians and began to fake their relationship to achieve higher popularity and the attention of a very attractive boy.

Karma Ashcroft

Karma Ashcroft is played by Katie Stevens, the boy-crazy best friend of Amy. Karma's look is very bohemian, which might be influenced by her hippie parents. She loves floral and lace and great accessories.

For this look, I began with this really cute cropped denim jacket and added this bold floral and lace printed romper. I kept the look simple adding these black lace up boots and then made the outfit pop with these red hue ombre chandelier earrings. I topped the look off with a cute triangle necklace similar to the one I noticed Karma wearing.

Amy Raudenfeld

Amy Raudenfeld played by Rita Volk is kind of the opposite of her best friend Karma Ashcroft. She's content with not being popular and wishes things would go back to normal. All in all though, Amy is a very funny and sarcastic character and really cares for the people she loves.

Amy Raudenfeld
Amy has the simplest attire out of the whole cast. It's very comfortable and easy to wear. Here I used this slouchy cardigan and basic white tee. Next, I used these distressed boyfriend jeans from H&M (very inexpensive). I then finished the look off with some high-top white Converse and a studded wrap bracelet similar to the one she wears on the show. Lastly, I have this key necklace very similar to the one she wears.

Liam Booker

Liam Booker played by Gregg Sulkin is the show's heartthrob and Karma's love interest. He's best known for dating and breaking many hearts at Hester High, but when he get's to know Karma, he begins to like her.

Liam Booker

Liam's look is like a modern day James Dean. He has this sort of bad boy style that is very easy to recreate. Here, I have this amazing leather jacket and I paired it with this simple v-neck and some medium-wash skinny jeans. I finished the look off with some tough looking combat boots.

Lauren Cooper

Lauren, played by Bailey Buntain, is the step-sister and daughter of Amy and her mother. When the show starts we take notice that she despises the both of them and wishes her dad wouldn't have met Amy's mother, Farrah. As the show progresses, she starts to warm up to Farrah and except that her and her dad are getting married.

Lauren Cooper

So Lauren's style has very bold colors and bold necklaces. So for this look, I put the both of them in one. I have this simple white peplum top, with a black belt and some bold hot pink skinny jeans. I finish the look up with some ballet flats, a bold statement necklace, and some black studs.

Shane Harvey

Last and certainly not least, we have Shane Harvey played by Michael Willett. Shane is Liam's best friend and openly gay. He is the one who mistakes Karma and Amy being lesbians and confronts them and everyone about it at his party one night. Shane is very funny and has some of the best lines on the show.

Shane Harevy
Shane, just like Lauren loves bold items. So for this look, I have this great, bright floral blazer and a simple grey tank top. Next, I paired it with some simple skinny jeans and then some bold mint green Converse. Lastly, I always see Shane on the show carrying a cross-body bag on him, so I completed the outfit with a simple black cross-body bag.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Please watch Faking It, I completely recommend it and at the moment the show is on it's season finale, so catch up on the episodes at mtv.com

Look For Less: Miranda Kerr

Miranda Kerr-Look For Less

I love this look by Miranda Kerr! Now, I'm not always a fan of denim on denim, but the way Miranda always pulls it off makes me have hope for others to wear it. Here she pairs this simple chambray top and medium-wash denim jeans. Her shoes were the first thing to stand out for me. I love the way she adds a shoe with a leopard print and doesn't make it look classless or cheap. She finishes the look off with some simple black sunglasses and black tote.

Now, as simple as the look is, it's awfully expensive. So, I've recreated this look to be reasonably affordable. Obviously, this is one of the simplest looks to recreate but I thought I'd save you the trouble and put something together.

Here I have this chambray top from Forever 21, that's only $23! Now you can find some medium-wash jeans anywhere, but I found these from Topshop for only $8.50. The leopard pumps are a little over budget, but I can tell you that they are way cheaper than Miranda's. To conclude the look, the bag and sunglasses are from Forever 21 (Thank you F21) and are very inexpensive. I hope you enjoyed this Look For Less and till next week.
